Personally I feel a little bell is better than a ribbon, if the sissy moves to quickly the bell tinkles and people look around asking "What was that?".
For special occasions, a bigger bow can be used. With long ribbons hanging down. And maybe a sprig of tiny dried flowers tucked under it in an artistic fashion.
