It's not a requirement but most people agree that lipstick only makes it better....perhaps it's just the esthetics of the experience or maybe the flavor of one enhances the other....who knows!!!! But it looks so nice....and most chefs will tell you presentation is everything....so why shouldn't that apply to the most important meal of the day....that tasty treat is going to power you through your whole morning and if you're lucky the taste will stay with you all day!!!
