Zeke Brannigan wasn't afraid to die....he'd faced death many times....the Bugs on Klendathu....the self destroying crazies on Lagash....shit they destroyed their whole civilization just because it got dark....The Taurans...he thought that war would go on forever....
He'd had so many close calls that he considered every day that he woke up to be a bonus...most of his crew felt the same!!!
When they'd had a hard landing here....a planet that wasn't on anyone's charts...a planet where gravity played tricks and the laws of physics didn't seem to apply...they had no idea what awaited them!!!!
It was MacGruder who died first....they'd moved out of the ship to reconnoiter and forage....and Mac had been spotted by one of the natives!
The natives of this world were huge!!! twenty to thirty times larger than they were....and before Mac had a chance a tremendous hand had grabbed him and lifted him as if he was a bug....his scream was cut short as the giant fingers crushed his rib cage!!!
I really think that was an accident....they didn't understand their strength when used on our tiny bodies!!!!
We retreated to the ship to make one last try at repairs but that wasn't going to happen....they were stuck here....and worse....now the giants were looking for them!!!
Despite his best efforts to mount a defense.....it was a joke.....how do you defend against being squashed by a giant foot!!!
One by one they were either killed or captured....the dead had gotten the easy way out....
The scientists were fascinated by the "Little People" and experimented on them in many horrible ways.....vivisection was the worst....but other "tests" were almost as bad!!!!
Finally....Zeke was alone....and he wasn't afraid to die he just wished they'd get on with it!!!
The scientist kept him in a small cage in his lab and one day a girl....the scientists daughter had asked if she could play with the little man....
He was a kindly father and let her take the cage to her room although he admonished her to be careful not to break him....
Soon Zeke found himself in a dress meant for one of her dolls and being made to "dance" with the other dolls for her amusement.....Zeke thought that perhaps she'd forget but she was her Daddy's girl and dutifully locked him back in his cage before she went to bed...
Zeke watched her sleep for what seemed like hours before her father came to fetch him back to the Lab....
Zeke Brannigan wasn't afraid to die....he'd faced death before....many times....but he'd never envisioned that he could breath his last breath while wearing a dolls schoolgirl dress....
