Other Things

There are other things I love almost as much as serving my sweet wife or her lovers....there is something else I could just spend hours at....
Find me a good book store and I'll be a happy sissy....content to wander through for a whole afternoon.....
So if you're ever in a nice place like this in the New York/Pennsylvania area you might just spot me.....

  1. Thanks for the link, as I hadn't seen that post on the 1st Such a Sissy site.

We had a wonderful used book store close a few years ago, but it had been in decline for a number of years before, somewhat due to Amazon, but more so due to the vanishing of the older man that worked there.

My daughter was very rambunctious, but his manner would have her mellow in a matter of seconds. Had a measured tone of speaking and way about him, like a wizard version of Jack Perkins of Biography fame. He always had recommendations for everyone that had been there even once or twice, and would remember everyone's name. One day, he just wasn't there anymore, and others wouldn't say what happened.

After that, the place seemed much colder, the trade-in values of books went down and the credit was earned without nearly as many tomes worthy of bringing home with us. Then the lure of hundreds of books on a tablet was too much to ignore.

I still love books, and going to used bookstores (we are lucky to have a ton still around) but they've changed. Most are overpriced, as if the stores are hording them, and refusing to let them be read and enjoyed by others .. which is the entire point of books. The transfer of information and the freedom to explore other worlds, cajoling your mind to escape .. or bring you closer to a topic you might not have pondered before .. is being replaced by more "in-the-now" media that only needs to show and bombard you with over-stimulation. I fear that the subtlety of society has been lost to those who don't read the written page.

So if I ever get to the tri-state area, I'll be sure to hit some places .. and imagine you there, blowing some guy behind the stacks!

    1. I'm glad you have the joy of books too...everything around here is strip malls and trendy stores....no room for a musty old used book store....
Garage sales and tag sales have worked well for me when I have time to go...because I'm an early riser I'm usually one of the first ones there and I've gotten some great stuff....
A couple of weeks ago I got the boxed six-volume history of the Second World War by Winston Churchill for 10 bucks!!! That should provide reading pleasure for months....
I have a tendency to read more than one book at a time...sometimes as many as three or four...
I tried the Kindle thing and while I guess it's great for travel I just don't like it....I'm an old fashioned sissy who likes to have the real thing in my hand!!!
Oh and if you hit the right book store at the right time you might not have to imagine it...
      Kisses
